In the Psychology course you will be carrying out “real” research in the form of pilot studies (smaller scale studies whose aim are to go through the process of collecting data using different methods and where generalisation is not often the goal)

Remember!

You must document the process of conducting each practical since this will be your revision material for the exams in 2027.

How?

A. work in groups of 3-5 people

B. choose a topic that is about human relationships (this includes group behaviour and interpersonal relationships-we did attraction-and the role of technology (e.g. mobil phones, video games, social media, AI)

C. Make a survey, 6-12 questions and remember to base the questions on what you learnt in class

Use some kind of scale to collect quantitative data (e.g. likert scale, ordinal scale)

You may also collect qualitative data N.B this will produce words (descriptive data) which is more cumbersome to analyse)

D. Analyse the data and write up the results

When?:

3/3 Be ready with the surveys (make sure Anna/Bobo check them)

distribute to 10-15 persons AFTER GETTING APPROVAL FROM TEACHER (this is called respondents)

15/3 Hand in write-up of the survey (this includes answering each point in the document: Hand in on classroom.

1. Choosing a topic: AI suggestions on Interpersonal relationships

I present you with some AI ideas which are complicated in terms of constructing a survey that would measure or implicate certain trends, but they might instigate some ideas that you could use for construction of your survey. Remember, you need to have in focus the human relationships as a context, you need to base the research question on content that you are familiar with and also include the role of technology in both the investigation and on the content within the context. It is not an easy task, but, rest assured that you can do it following the rules above and always having in mind the ethical considerations.

Here are the ideas:

1. Formation of Personal Relationships

These topics explore how we choose partners or friends in a digital world.
